I am graduating in May and looking to find advice on starting out. Had an internship with a company in the financial services last year and found it was a career I wanted to pursue.

It is extremely difficult to start out as an Advisor right out of school. The large wirehouses, which have formal structured training programs and will pay you a salary for 2 years generally won't hire out of school. So you'd have to go to a smaller firm, any salary would probably be smaller, and wouldn't last as long. In our business, you eat what you kill. In other words, you get paid based on the revenue you bring in. And it takes a long time to build up enough of a base to make a livable level of earnings.
My advice would be to try to find a job and a Sales Assistant, or Marketing Assistant for a team. Or find a job in sales in another industry, and use the next few years to build up your contact base, and get experience closing business. |

If you eat an entire cake without cutting it, then technically, you only had one piece

You could try to start with one of the major insurance companies such as MetLife. You would use your 6 there as well as life/health insurance license.
